DR-60 Cleaner-Remover is used in the penetrant process to remove excess, nonwater-washable penetrants from part surfaces, e.g., Sherwin DP-40 Dye Penetrant (visible red) and Sherwin RC-65 and RC-77 Flourescent Penetrants. It is a manual “wipe on” and “wipe off” material and, consequently, recommended for small areas. DR-60 may also be used for generally cleaning oily, dirty surfaces. DR-60 is especially suitable for cleaning prior to the application of inspection penetrants.

Step 2

DR-60 cleaner / remover is used both for precleaning and penetrant removal. Precleaning spray directly on surface. After 30 seconds, wipe cleaner from the surface with clean, dry lint free rag or towel. Allow time for cleaner to evaporate completely from any existing flaws before penetrant application.

Wipe first with clean, dry, lint free rag.
Remove remaining surface penetrant by wiping with clean rag. Repeat wiping until surface is substantially free of penetrant film
Dry surface by wiping with clean, lint free rags or towels before apply developer.
